AngelFish Partners

Technology is only as good as your implementation and access to users. That is why we are proud to show off our industry leading partnerships.

The UK Space Agency (UKSA) is responsible for all the strategic decisions on the United Kingdom’s civil space programme. They provide a clear, single voice for the UK space ambitions and have a broad mandate to support and grow the UK space sector.

Without the dedicated support from the UK Space Agency through the International Partnership Programme (IPP), it would have been impossible to mature the AngelFish tracking and safety technologies. In addition, the IPP allowed real life demonstration of the value brought to the small-scale fisher by combining the African originated AngelFish technology with Spire Marine’s exactTrax™ satellite service.

IPP is funded from the BEIS Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF). The GCRF forms part of the UK’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) commitment.

The International Pole and Line Foundation is motivated by the same vision as AngelFish; working directly with coastal communities, ensuring their participation in implementing the practical means for effective and equitable global governance and trade as an essential step in protecting and restoring the ocean, as set out by the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

IPNLF founders set out with a mission to support and promote one hook, one line, one fish at a time. IPNLF activities vary from practical projects to implement best practices at sea, to ensuring the rights and needs of one-by-one fishers are considered in international fisheries management decision-making. IPNLF currently has more than 70 members, representing each node of the supply chain.

Spire Maritime provides the most advanced location-based information on global maritime traffic available today - delivering an unrivalled view of the maritime picture at a global scale.

Their fully secure data provides real value for a wide range of operational maritime applications delivering operational efficiencies, enhancing security, safeguarding the environment, and assisting in saving lives.

Spire Maritime is responsible for the technical and business development related to the exactTrax™ (small vessel tracking) and exactSeNS™ (IoT data communications) satellite services. The AngelFish is fully compliant with these technologies, allowing real time and pervasive small-vessel tracking anywhere on the globe.

ABALOBI is an African-based, fisher-driven social enterprise with global reach. Their mission is to contribute towards thriving, equitable and sustainable small-scale fishing communities in South Africa and beyond, through the joint development of technology.

In tandem with Spire Maritime’s exactTrax™ satellite service and the AngelFish’s vessel tracking technology, their approach focuses on achieving tangible milestones, driven by a suite of mobile apps, that relate to seafood traceability, fully documented fisheries, fair and transparent supply chains, and community cohesion and entrepreneurship as important precursors to launching longer-term ecological improvement actions associated with a transition towards ecological sustainability.
